Preserving the Sacred Stone

The Carving Process

01

Conception & Sketching

Every piece begins with paper and charcoal. Historical motifs are studied, and contemporary elements are interwoven before touching the stone.

02

Shaping the Tuff

Selecting the finest Armenian pink or black tuff. Heavy hammers shape the rough block into a monolithic canvas.

03

Intricate Ornamenting

Using fine chisels to carve the delicate lace-like patterns (Janyak) that signify eternal life and spiritual growth.
